When using geothermal wells it heats up the water because of the heat that increases the deeper down you go.
No fossil fuels, no burning garbage or depending on wind, rain or sun.
Possible to do everywhere
The temperature increases every km down under the surface but temperatures change between locations. This can be compensated with deeper drill holes if needed.
When established it is the cheapest energy available
After the initial cost where the drilling itself is the biggest expense, the cost of running the system is a circulation pump to move the water.
